A David Ogilvy Take on Transparent Advertising

Embellished Advertising

Is it just me or does it actually seem like all modern day advertising involves some type of exaggeration or embellishment?  What happened to keeping things simple – and being transparent?  When I saw the quote by David Ogilvy this was the first thing to come to mind.  I think of the car ads pulling off all sorts of stunts in what appears to be a city environment.  I also think of the fast food item that somehow never looks like the one in the advertisement.

Is this what our capitalistic (American) society has become?

Do you have to go over the top in advertising your product or service in order to one up the competition?

Thank you - it's appreciated!
